Unofficially a blog that's been shut down, you might still find the occasional post here where I mention something about exercise, rant/comment on life, or post my amateur third-person poetry.

ARID #22

A cold start to the morning today, but at least it was dry and bright, and I had a chance to go running at a later time of day than I normally do. Cold weather is manageable, tolerable, and more welcome than rain, which we've had quite a a bit, but my body gets confused. The longer I run, the colder my forearms and hands get, but the rest of me gets hotter. Anyway, I managed 4.6K in 20:30 (22:17 5K equivalent). Why 4.6K? Ah, while I got busy wondering what I could do to get my bodyparts to equalize, I got confused. I stopped at the wrong place, thinking I'd completed 5K, and it was only after five minutes or so that I realised I would have had to do 6:37 mins/mile to have achieved that time... and that definitely didn't feel like a 6:37 pace.

Oh well.

This week I have more mornings to choose to run on, and hope to get some short fast runs in. Anyone know where I can buy a brain?

I have the solution!!! I have the same problem. I went to a bike shop and bought arm warmers. I wear a vest and long sleeved shirt, then pull the arm warmers over the shirt to my elbows. They are meant to go over the whole arm, so pulling them to the elbows leaves extra that allows me to pull them over my hands. I usually start the run with gloves and the warmers pulled over, then later take the gloves off. If I start feeling cold again, I just pull the arm warmers down. Works perfectly! They have all kinds of arm warmers - the ones I bought are fleece on the inside. Try it!

I think you should move to the US and come to North Carolina where you can root for UNC Basketball and feel warm all over.

I am pretty sure there must be some good brains available on the black market because I think someone stole mine at some point. Of course that means I consider my brain to be a good one and that might be stretching the truth a bit.

Um, yeah, mine seems to be missing as well. If you find an extra one laying around, ship it this way.

I was thinking of you when I wrote that last post... you are too funny!
