Unofficially a blog that's been shut down, you might still find the occasional post here where I mention something about exercise, rant/comment on life, or post my amateur third-person poetry.

How not to hydrate

It's been a sweltering week on this part of the Atlantic. I know from reading other blogs that it can get up to 110+, but for me, when it gets to 100 that's about the upper limits of my tolerance. In the school, the room that I have to teach in is a little room with two windows that face east, so it is heated up from the start of the day and gets progressively hotter. And the travel on public transport is terrible on the way back - not as hot as saunas, but close enough.

Yesterday as it was the last day for some of the teachers we all went down to the pub for a quick drink. After half a pint of beer I didn't want any more, but everyone wanted to get a second round. Too much beer makes me red - it must be something about being Oriental - so I had a Coke.

Bad choice. I soon learnt that a Coke + beer mix in your stomach is ... well, bad. For a spell of about two minutes I felt faint and had to do all I could to stay conscious. I could feel myself almost black out - and the conversation around me become muffled. The ride home in the public saunas didn't help. I was sticky, sweaty, faint, nauseous... I was glad that I only made the mess when I got home.

Ran 5-and-a-bit miles this morning. It rained midway, but that was welcome. It all averaged out to 7:40 mins/mile, which I was satisfied with, considering running consistency is something I'm struggling with these days.

More fun with the Maid later on. Have a good weekend, folks!

My stomach hurts just thinkin' about that mix! Nice run, too....if it's raining, that means you get to roll around in the mud in your sty, right?

Well you may be able to kick my butt on the road. But I would wager I could put you under the table. :)

I hope you have fun with the Maid later.

Oh...wait...you are talking about a juice bottle aren't you? I must have my mind in the gutter again.

Hmm, have to wonder about someone who turns down beer for a coke. The trick is more beer and less coke and lots of finger foods to go with it!

Hope the belly is better today!

I know what you were thinking in going for the coke. I always long for the feeling that you get when the fuzzy pop hits your mouth, its so refreshing, if for only a second, then its all down hill. I haven’t had a glass of pop in well over a year, but I sure miss that feeling, how ever fleeting.

Cheers.

Rice.

PS. Thanks for the shout out.

Sounds miserable, but at least you felt good enough to run in the morning.

Coke and Beer? Can't believe that I've never tried it before...

I am one of the few Orientals who don't turn red with alcohol. I just fall over. :D
