Unofficially a blog that's been shut down, you might still find the occasional post here where I mention something about exercise, rant/comment on life, or post my amateur third-person poetry.

Circuit Training with the Maid

Circuit training is the in-thing on Planet Oink this week.

All the weight lifting books recommmend working major muscle groups first, before going on to the smaller ones. Because my brain cannot cope with remembering with complicated rotations, I tend to just start from the top and work down. This is my "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" workout.

Pressups
Bicep curls with the Maid
Shoulder presses (Maid)
Tricep kickbacks
Crunches or Plank
Squats (holding the Maid) or leg raises (with Maid)
Calf-raises (Maid)
Hamstring curls
Deadlifts

I do a few sets and vary the speed. On some sets certain exercises will be fast, and some slow. Sometimes it's fast pressups followed by slow bicep curls. The change in heart rate is negligible, but everything stays above 60%. I don't really count reps - as soon as the exercise gets too easy, or I'm flagging, I move on to the next.

Circuit training is a fun thing to do from time to time - a nice alternative to running, when you can't be bothered. For me, circuit training improves my cardiovascular fitness too - one year I did nothing but that with weights, and on the first occasion I ran, I found I could maintain 70% MHR for 90 minutes fairly well.

Give it a Try yourself.

Okay, what's the Maid? I thought you meant the house-cleaning type maid and I was pretty curious. But now I don't know what you mean!

Oh, I just didn't connect the two! I thought it was a fancy new piece of equipment that I'd never heard of!

You know there Try you are no Hillshire Pigdon. He uses gallon milk jugs filled with coins. The maid is what a half gallon. ;)

I thought the maid was the person who cleans your house as well, which means that this post was much more tame than I thought it might be. I thought I was going be reading something with how you and the maid were doing circuit training all over the house, which might not be appropriate for this blog, but after all it's your blog. Now that I connected what the "maid" actually is it makes much more sense.

Ooooh kinky :) Just kidding, I get it now too.

Circuit training is awesome! I do it at the gym, and incorporate a few running laps.

Glad I'm not the only one who has trouble remembering routines like that. Your "head, shoulders, knees and toes" circuit sounds great, but has the annoying side effect of getting that song stuck in my little brain. ;)

I wish I had a maid. Isn't it funny how they always want money, though? Your maid is quite transparent that way. Okay, enough with the bad jokes...
