Unofficially a blog that's been shut down, you might still find the occasional post here where I mention something about exercise, rant/comment on life, or post my amateur third-person poetry.

A week off running can be good

Backham is better. I've done lots of stretching this week. No more babboon-walk for me - I've evolved. There is still some tightness in the back and hams, but I have to do stretching more consistently to get around that. I feel good - I did weights yesterday, 3 sets for every part (well ... 5 for bicep curls because I'm vain) and my back handled everything well. To top it all off, I'm raring to go running again. Tomorrow I shall try the Backham test run, day 1 of Hal's 5K plan - based on how I feel at the moment I don't think there should be any problems, either before or during the run.

It's the heat I'm more concerned about. Yesterday's and today's temperatures are nearly 90F. The sudden change from the week before has been, well, sudden. 90F is more than enough for me, really. Humor me, Stymates: Just how hot does it get for you over the summer? And those of you on the East Coast, watch out, the hot spell here might be headed your way sometime next week.

Back to work. Thanks for checking in, and have a good start to your week!

Learning to run in the heat is critical. Run either in the morning and watch your pace. Plenty of fluids and suntan lotion required.

glad your feeling better!

Whew, it rarely gets hotter than 95 F here, but it's the HUMIDITY that kills me. Hydrate lots and be careful! And keep that hot weather away from Ohio! :)

I laugh at 100 degree temperatures and those who have to run in them.

The 80F range is hot in my neck of the woods, but I enjoy getting out in the heat every once in awhile.

I'm loving the 80's right now. It'll soon be the 90's with 90 humidity. Ugh. I'm not a good hot weather runner. I'll be stuck at 5k's during the heat waves (unless i get to run early on the weekends) Keep your heat over the Atlantic!
