Stir-fry post
This one has a bit of everything thrown in.
After spending a day doing the hedgehog recovery workout - curling myself into a ball or squatting (easy with flat feet) every once in a while - my back felt better, so I went for a run this evening. I was okay doing my normal tasks at home, but within the first ten steps or so Backham let me know all wasn't quite right yet, so I didn't push it. After a rainy cold week, the Poundland thermometer has spiked up to 70F today. And after what has obviously been a poor running month, I found it a little difficult. I feel out of shape. I did 5 miles in 40 minutes, but not long before I was doing the same thing under 35 minutes ... the only consolation, I suppose, is that I wasn't pushing too hard. Anyone want to paint a big "L" on the pigskin?
On a whim, I emailed a couple of music publishers (literally, two) yesterday. One of them asked to see some of the compositions I'd written for my students, so I've been busy today editing them. I don't know how many stymates work from home full-time, but I find the lack of structure a little unsettling. Every spare moment I'm wanting to get back to making sure the fingering is on the key notes, the musical phrases are drawn in to look nicely, the titles are all in the same font, etc. Work literally spills over into areas it's not supposed to. There's still stuff to touch up, but I've clocked ten-and-a-half hours of music editing today, and I think that's enough. Hopefully something exciting comes out of this - wouldn't it be cool to have a book published! Especially one with really awful composition titles like Eject!Eject!Eject! and Salmon Conversation. Have I shot myself in the trotter already?
We watched football (that's soccer to you folks) over on telly yesterday. An England player wasn't tripped but he fell anyway, and the referee awarded a penalty. One of the studio commentators remarked "That's alright, other countries are doing it to us, so we'll do it to them." What sort of state is society in, when bad sportsmanship is passed off by so-called role models as "doing whatever it takes to win" and even seen as being "determined"?
Enough ranting. Time to stretch, and I might risk some weights later this evening. Happy running folks!

When I read stirfry - I thought, "cool, a recipe". I read to the end before I figured it out. Must be oxygen deprivation from that hill run this morning!

I love soccer, I really do, but the players are so notorious for hamming up their "injuries". It's almost always for show, and it's bloody annoying!
