Double Figures
I finished Run #10 today. I wanted to mark my first double-figure run with some sort of significance, such as doing by a longer than usual distance or something like that, and although that didn't happen, #10 shall be remembered for certain reasons. My main aim in embarking on this 50-run endeavour was to encourage myself to go out and run during the colder months, to restore exercise to the place it once held in my life. My biggest obstacle to running every other day was (and still is) work and an aversion to cold and rain. Today was one of those days, but I conquered that. A 10-minute break over six straight hours of one-to-one teaching meant I hadn't eaten properly all day, and when I came home I still had to teach, and wanted to get more work done so I could have more time with the Mrs in the evening, cold winds, rainy weather moving in ... I went anyway. I thought if I chickened out of this one I would make excuses in the future, so I did a run within reasonable limits, at a 7min/mile pace. The rain only closed in after I'd finished, so that was fine. No runner's high, no endorphins. Just relief. Now I can focus on the next set of 10.
Temperature today: 15 deg; Wind 10mph.
