I'm finished Run #9 now. (Run #8 was an easy 20-minute trot around the local park.) Today in between breaks at work I went running along the river. Saw the scullers and rowers, and paced off them. There was someone running in the opposite direction so we lapped each other every half lap. I'm settling into this routine of running at work now.
I'm also really liking this thing about setting myself a target number of runs and then working up to it. I'm pleased that soon I'll be cracking #10, but of course this is the easiest part of it yet. The most difficult ones are the ones in between when it's either going to be cold, dark or wet. I can't wait for Dec 21 to be over - this is the shortest day in the UK - and I hope for February (coldest month) to be gone soon.
I was thinking the other day about what I hope to achieve after these 50 runs. Obviously to do them all before February is going to be an achievement (for me) in itself, but I hope that by the end of it all, I'll have worked up enough of a base and some speed to run a 5K under 20 minutes, and improve on my 10K time. If I'm lucky, I hope to bring my 1/2M time closer to the 1:30 mark as well.
