Unofficially a blog that's been shut down, you might still find the occasional post here where I mention something about exercise, rant/comment on life, or post my amateur third-person poetry.

Imbalance

My work-life balance has been off these past couple of weeks.

One of my colleagues has cancer. It was detected in its early stages, so everyone's confident that it will all turn out fine.

Mike is still doing part of his teaching but has had to go for treatment a few mornings or afternoons each week. We've all taken on extra teaching loads to cover his other lessons because:

a) It was too late for the school to interview for a teacher
b) It's unlikely that someone will want to do bits and bats of teaching
c) The Head Master of the school wants to save money
d) We want to save Mike his job - we don't want him to give up all of his work to go for treatment, only to find, when he gets better, someone is squatting his position

For me, taking on extra duties has meant going back to working on Saturdays at the school. Now six days a week I'm out of the house at around half-six and back at seven, and the longest lunch break I have is about thirty minutes, although it's more like ten to fifteen on most days. I still walk about 4 miles in the course of each day, but finding time to run consistently is difficult.

It's also been difficult to find time to visit Blogger and catch up on the latest news, so do excuse me for not frequenting your blogs. Hopefully things will improve!
