Unofficially a blog that's been shut down, you might still find the occasional post here where I mention something about exercise, rant/comment on life, or post my amateur third-person poetry.

Diarrhoea-free

Monday 9th April

My lame and warped attempt to say I've not had runs.

It was well over a week ago since I last ran but I did four miles again this morning in 30:12. An improvement over the 30:30 two Sundays ago. Now there's a nice dream - if I keep slobbing out at this rate I should be able to get my 5K time under 20 minutes by the next quarter.

Weights: I'm doing that one set per upper bodypart about once every two or three hours, and it feels great. Every time I catch myself standing around doing nothing I either grab the maid for some bicep curls or shoulder presses, or do ten reps per cep (that's pig-speak for 30 reps) of tricep kickbacks. On certain days I get up to about 300 pressups. Not all that spectacular but okay (my record is 650 proper ones). Sometimes I grab a few Yellow Pages and do calf raises on them, and some free weight squats and hamstring curls. I'm not all that keen about doing too many exercises for legs, because I think stretching is more a priority for my trotters than weights. I know this time last year I was thinking I needed to stretch to run better and faster, so going by today's result, maybe that's working.

Abs? Ahem. Just the token set, nothing much.

The Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race on Sunday was brilliant to watch. The underdog Oxford crew were ahead for the larger part of the race but Cambridge hung in there and gradually wore them down over the four-mile course. The Cambridge cox was very good - calm and unfazed at initially being behind. If you like that sort of thing read here.

We're off to visit family. Have a good week folks!

I'm sure it'll all come together when you are ready. I've been trying to lift here at home, but I don't like it and find it very easy to pass. You have a good week too!

I like the idea of continuous movement when you find yourself standing around. Lately my problem has been that my lifting has consisted more of chocolate, cake, and ice cream than any weights per se. I am looking to break the record in the clydesdale division at the next Portland Marathon so the extra pounds will come in handy. And a good week to you too.

your lame run sounds like an awesome run (well if it were my run)

I love watching boat races. We used to go the Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia. (that is BD .... before David)

Enjoy your family visit.

You just have so much going on in your life. There will be time for the running when it is appropriate.
