I finished with a weekly mileage 15.3 less than my friend Kurt. I think he normally has 50, 60 miles a week, so to finish 15.3 behind would make me very proud. Unfortunately for me that was his weekly mileage, so (drum roll please!) I have with a grand total of 0 miles.
The last week of June/first week of July is traditionally the time when work at some schools tails off and the summer school I work at starts, so there is a period of overlap where, at one end, reports and end of term stuff need doing, and at the other, start of school stuff need to be done. It's a bit crazy and sometimes it makes me think I shouldn't have different jobs at different places, but it beats being stuck at a school in a dead-end job as a normal classroom teacher and facing seemingly-irreversible declining standards of work and discipline every single day.
We also did a concert yesterday at a FOAF (friend of a friend). She has a huge house which seemed to me like a former pub and we played and sung in one of the downstairs rooms which held up to 20 people. It was a great experience and we met lots of new FOAFs, but rehearsing the music took up many afternoons and evenings and weekends. You can tell I'm trying to list the excuses for not running. The main reason, really, is that when I look in the mirror, I see the header above.
Unless the summer school boss tells me at the last-minute I have more classes to cover, it's mostly half day weeks now for the next few weeks, thankfully, so it means I'll have time in the afternoon to run. I should have a summer challenge - a certain number of runs or something like that, like the "50 before Xmas" I do in the autumn. Thankfully, the weather's been unseasonably cool and wet here; it'd get to me if it were hot and humid. In Philadelphia there are plenty of other things that can get to one as well. (Sorry, M, but that post is too funny.)
Today I've been back on the weights and stretching, tomorrow I'm back on the running, if the weather holds. At the moment it looks like it's
for the next few days. Nice.

LOL I'm glad I read Kurts blog first, although you explained it, it made it funnier Good that you are doing some weight training, enjoy your next run!

I think you definitely need a summer challenge. That way I don't have to think of a challenge and I can use yours:)

Ahh, I'm with you on the not running lately. Except I don't have the same excuses.
Thanks for the shout out.
Oh and another thing...yours is the only blog I can comment on at work. The others get freaky. Weird. Must be the English thing.

I run like a sloth lately so I wish I was back to running 50 mile weeks. Might actually be non sloth like then.
